Inquiring Minds Welcome
Have you got questions about making whiteboard videos? If so, you're in the right place! Here are some answers to the most common questions I get asked.
What are whiteboard videos?
A whiteboard video is an animated video that uses simple hand-drawn pictures on a plain white background to get your message across clearly. The video characters are usually brought to life by an animated pencil sketching them in real time.
What’s the process for creating a whiteboard video?
I'm a one-person whiteboard video creation shop. Please look at my How I Do It (insert hyperlink) to learn more about how I’ll make a video for you.
Are whiteboard videos cheaper than other types of videos?
Whiteboard videos are usually cheaper than other kinds of videos because they are quicker and easier to make. I don't need fancy cameras or a big team of people. So, they save time and money, making them a great choice if you're looking for something cost-effective.
How much does a whiteboard video cost?
It depends on the length and complexity of the video and whether you want one video or a series. But to give you a guide, my price for a standard one-minute video is around £500.
How long does it take to create a whiteboard video?
There are a few steps involved in making a video. Usually, I can finish the process in a couple of weeks, but it can depend on my current workload. How quickly you complete your part will also affect the timing.
Can I have input on the script and design of the video?
Absolutely! We'll discuss your script and design ideas at our first meeting. If you're not happy with the draft version of the video, I'll work on it until it's just right. My goal is to make sure you love the final product.
Can I choose the style of animation?
I can create videos in different styles, but remember that whiteboard videos are meant to be simple. The characters and objects are designed to look like they're being drawn in real-time, so the illustrations will be pretty simple. For an idea of my style, look at the Illustrations section here. Can you do revisions?
Yes, I do offer revisions. My main goal is to make the video just how you want it. We plan everything carefully, and you'll see a draft video first, so usually, we don't need to change the final version. The only time I can't make changes without charging extra is if you change your mind about what you want after we've already started the project.
What formats will the final video be available in?
You will get a compressed and HD digital version of your whiteboard video. (Note to Phil: Do we need to specify the actual format?) The compressed version is suitable for websites, social media, and email and loads quickly. The HD version is only needed if you show your video on a big screen.
Do you provide voiceover services, or should I arrange that separately?
I'm a one-person shop, and I include the voiceover services in my price, so you don't need to sort anything out.
How long are the videos?
Whiteboard videos are designed to be easy to engage with and follow, so I recommend they're around a minute long to make sure you keep people's attention. If you need something longer, I recommend creating a series of videos rather than a single one.
What is your policy on copyrights and usage rights for the video?
You have the complete rights to use your video in any way you think is suitable.
